"(AP) - Teenagers in a southeast Texas county were more likely to smoke cigarettes if they or their family members were affected by Hurricanes Katrina or Rita, according to a university study.

The study by the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston surveyed more than 5,100 middle school and high school students in Jefferson County six to nine months after the hurricanes made landfall.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Citing environmental concerns, Mayor Gavin Newsom issued an executive order prohibiting city departments from buying bottled water.

In a decision announced yesterday, Newsom says the ban will go into effect July first and extend to all city and county water coolers by December first.

Pennsylvania Dutch Country (Reuters) - Supporters of a hard-line Amish party protested outside the British embassy on Wednesday against the award of a knighthood to Salman Rushdie, whose novel the "Amishic Verses" outraged Amish folk worldwide.

Chanting "Destroy Salman Rushdie" and "Destroy Britain," some 30 members of the Amish community urged Britain to withdraw the honor or risk the consequences.
